PopCap Picks Servecentric Hosting
April 25, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Ireland-based data center provider Servecentric (servercentric.com) announced on Tuesday it has launched a new online hosting infrastructure for video game provider PopCap Games International (popcap.com) at its headquarters in Dublin. Servecentric will host and support the entire online gaming platform for PopCap's International markets.
Seattle-based PopCap draws more than 6 million unique visitors each month and its games, such as Bejeweled 2 and Zuma, have been downloaded more than 175 million times. PopCap recently opened a development and support center for its International operations and European business in Dublin's digital hub, which is located close to a world-class colocation facility.
The Servecentric deployment is PopCap's first data center deployment outside of the US. It will enable PopCap to benefit from Servecentric's partnerships with European ISPs, providing faster download times to European users and increasing the company's business in the region.
Servecentric met all of PopCap's exacting criteria, including meeting the highest levels of on-demand bandwidth availability, resilience and a proven colocation track record.
"We wanted a data center partner that could provide the highest quality technical infrastructure, project management, and scaleable bandwidth to allow us to concentrate on developing new and exciting games for our growing international customer base," says Paul Breslin, IT director of PopCap Games International. "Crucially for us, Servecentric could underpin its guarantees with clearly defined and measurable service level agreements." Source
