A method for downloading public files using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Anonymous FTP is called anonymous because you don't need to identify yourself before accessing files. In general, you enter the word anonymous when the host prompts you for a username. Generally your email address is the acceptable password.
Anonymous FTP is a separate area on your web site. Your web site files are NOT accessible via anonymous FTP. The only files that are accessible via anonymous FTP are the files that you, as a site administrator place in the anonymous FTP area.
